Newbury in Bloom returns for 2025




Fetch your trowels and start digging because Newbury in Bloom is back for 2025.

The annual competition organised by Newbury Town Council encourages residents, businesses, and community groups to create green spaces filled with flowers and other plants.

The council states that the Newbury in Bloom’s goal is to “enhance the town’s beauty, promote horticultural excellence, and create a greener, cleaner, and more inviting environment for everyone”.

Town councillor Ian Jee said: “We are incredibly proud of the Newbury in Bloom community and the success of the campaign over the past eight years.

“We encourage everyone to get involved again, and I’m excited to see the fantastic work being done by our local communities.

“This year, we have several new community groups taking part, and we eagerly look forward to their contributions.

“There are great prizes to be won, so put on your gardening gloves and get started.”

The categories for the 2025 competition are neighbourhood (groups of five or more properties which includes alms houses and canal boats), community projects (any community or group collaborating on a project), places of worship or assembly, allotments, miniature garden (small displays such as window boxes or hanging baskets, max 1mx1m), business premises and schools.

The deadline for submissions is May 23, with judging scheduled to take place during the week commencing June 23.
