Newbury Emporium officially opens

Civic dignitaries attend event

NEWBURY Emporium, a centre with more than 30 antique dealers and specialists in Bartholomew Street, has been officially declared open.

The ribbon was cut on Sunday, by television antiques expert Stewart Hofgartner, who runs the Below Stairs antiques shop in Hungerford.

The event included a free valuation session with Mr Hofgartner and David Harrison, from Jubilee Auction Rooms in Marlborough, Wiltshire.

The new centre, owned by Penny Morgan and Gary Wilkinson, recently moved from its former home in Marlborough.

Ms Morgan said: “We’ve been delighted by the interest shown so far and have welcomed local residents as well as browsers from further afield.

“We have everything ranging from glassware to books to jewellery and something for every price range.

“We’re very grateful to the mayor of Newbury, Julian Swift-Hook, plus Stewart and David for their help in giving Newbury Emporium an official launch today.”

Mr Hofgartner said: “I love that the centre is now open in Newbury and would like to wish all concerned all the best.”

The centre will be open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm, giving customers the opportunity to browse more than 1,800sq ft of stock including furniture, silver, glassware, porcelain, pottery, jewellery and collectables.
