Newbury chef raises money for Motor Neurone Disease Association by running every day in May
A CHEF from Newbury has cooked up a challenge for himself on every one of the 31 days in May.
Andrew Lenaghan will be raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, by running five miles a day in memory of his father James – who died of MND on May 5, 31 years ago.
The 56-year-old, who lives in Calcot, has been inspired by former Leeds Rhinos player Kevin Sinfield who ran seven marathons in seven days on behalf of his brave former teammate Rob Burrow, who is fighting MND.
Mr Lenaghan, who works as a chef at Horris Hill School, in Newbury, expressed his gratitude for the support his father received from the MND Association.
He said: “I want publicity for MND so that more people know about the disease and can donate more money for research work.
“I run with Reading Joggers most nights and I think I am fit enough for the challenge.”
Mr Lenaghan is giving all donations to the MND Association’s Reading and West Berkshire branch.
