Newbury BID shines spotlight on small businesses
Newbury BID is shining a spotlight on small businesses in the town.
Nationwide initiative Small Business Saturday falls this weekend and Newbury is getting involved.
Small businesses are often overlooked in favour of high street brands but Newbury BID wants to offer some support where it may be needed.
It has asked shoppers to explore their local independents and support their local shop owners.
Newbury BID operations manager Alison Drummond said: “We work hard to support all of our small businesses and business owners.
“They make up the backbone of Newbury’s fantastic community.
“Initiatives like these are so important and therefore we are keen for other like-minded businesses throughout all of West Berkshire to dip their toe into trading in Newbury town centre.”
With the Christmas shopping period getting into full swing, the BID has produced a series of Christmas guide posts on Facebook and Instagram including a guide to stocking fillers.
The BID has also extended its offer of two free market pitches to local, small or independent businesses in West Berkshire who are keen to try out commercial trading in Newbury town centre’s artisan market.
Hosted on Northbrook Street, the Newbury Artisan Market draws in thousands of visitors each month and the BID hopes it will help raise the profile of any business wanting a pitch.
The market’s next appearance will be for the festive Christmas Edition Artisan Market, on December 16 and December 17.
