New village shop opens within Honesty Café at Donnington
A new village shop has opened in Donnington and it stocks “the best products that local businesses have to offer”.
The new retail offering is situated within Honesty Café, located at the back of The Hartley Arms pub, and it sells a variety of grocery products such as store cupboard ingredients, fresh seasonal vegetables, bread and milk.
It also sells alcohol, including a selection of beers, wines, spirits, as well as gift ideas such as soap, gift cards and books.
The shop is currently running an introductory 10 per cent off offer on all retail items until Wednesday, June 7.
General manager Ben Chandler said: “We’re really excited to be providing the village with a shop, offering locally sourced, seasonal produce throughout the year.
“We’ve been asked by our customers many times if we can set this up, and are pleased to announce we will be providing this service.
“We are hoping it will bring the community together and provide some convenience for our locals and those visiting Donnington Castle.
“We hope they’ll come and enjoy a cup of coffee and cake, catch up with neighbours or friends and make the most of what’s on offer.”
The café will be extending its opening hours from Wednesday to Sunday, 8.30am to 4.30pm until the end of August, and if it’s successful, will continue to open five days a week.
The café will also be offering a wider range of cakes and pastries, lunchtime options such as soup, paninis, salads, sandwiches, as well as ice cream and a selection of hot and cold drinks.
The Honesty Group has multiple sites across Berkshire and North Hampshire, from coffee shops, pubs and restaurants to farm shops.
The new shop in Donnington will stock vegetables grown in the beds at the company’s cookery school gardens in North Sydmonton.
