It's all change at The Newbury pub
IT'S opening time under a new management for The Newbury pub today (Thursday).
Jamie Allen is the new licensee of the Bartholomew Street watering hole, due to reopen today at noon.
Mr Allen, who also runs The Fox Inn at Hermitage, said: "We want to put our own stamp on the place."
He is joined in the venture by general manager Aaron D'Souza.
The pair have taken over from Pete Lumber, who ran the pub for 10 years and is now launching a gin bar and tasting house in Parkway.
Mr Allen said: "Aaron has worked at Strada, Bill's Restaurant and the Toby Carvery in Newbury so he's got lots of experience of the town.
"We'll be doing food and we've got some top chefs coming on board.
"We'll be featuring steak and fish dishes initially but we will be asking our customers what sort of dishes they'd like to see on the menu.
"There will be great beer, wine and cocktails and we plan to really make the terrace come alive this summer."
There are plans for DJ nights on Saturdays and the thriving open mic nights on Thursdays are set to continue.
Mr Allen added: "We want to make this a fun, vibrant place and we can't wait to get started."
