The majority of works are like for like replacement, with poles being removed and replaced in the same location.

Cables will be restrung and upgraded to more modern and damage resistant BLX cables throughout – with no increase in voltage.

Replacement of 91 poles and all adjoining cables totals 4,775 metres in 10 sections of the overhead line at Pangbourne, Tidmarsh and Sulham.

There is a requirement in two locations to insert a new pole, one in the line alongside Sulham Lane and one to the side of Maidenhatch House.

SSE also needs to replace existing poles and overhead lines within the flood plain of the River Pang.

All landowners have been contacted and advised of works and access agreements are in place.
