New dropped kerb for Woolton Hill footpath

A dropped kerb is to be installed next to the footpath across the Woolton Hill village field to make it easier to access.

The kerb will enable pedestrian access from Brownies Corner across Church Road to Woolton Hill Church and the schools.

The work will be done by Hampshire County Council and will cost the parish council £2,570, which has been paid in advance.

Parish clerk Amy White said: “We’re delighted as it will ensure easier access across for buggies and wheelchairs.”

The all-weather footpath across the field was completed in May last year, stretching from the southwest corner on Trade Street near Woolton Hill surgery to the northeast corner on Church Road.

It was funded by a grant from the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Local Infrastructure Fund, and East Woodhay Parish Council reserves, and is made from Fittleworth sandstone – similar to those found on National Trust properties.
