New deputy leader for West Berkshire Council
Mr Croft was appointed by the council leader, Gordon Lundie, at the group’s annual general meeting last week.
It follows the decision of councilor Pamela Bale (Pangbourne) to stand down as deputy leader.
Mrs Bale had served as deputy leader of the Conservative group since 2008.
Mr Lundie and his predecessor, Graham Jones, paid tribute to her and thanked her for her hard work and support.
Mr Lundie said: “Pamela has been an excellent deputy leader and I am delighted that she has agreed to continue to serve as a member of the executive with responsibility for highways.”
Mr Croft is one of two ward members for Thatcham South and Crookham.
He is also the executive member for strategy, performance and IT.
A former IT director, he has had major involvement in helping to secure funding and support for the Superfast Broadband Project.
