New Camp Hopson store opening in Northbrook Street in Newbury tomorrow

The new Camp Hopson store on Northbrook Street will be opening tomorrow (Friday).

The Newbury department store is expanding with a second outlet on Newbury’s high street that will be contained within the retail unit previously occupied by Wilko.

The new shop will initially operate as a clearance store selling furniture and homeware during the holiday period, before it shuts down in the new year and undergoes significant renovations.

The second Camp Hopson Northbrook Street store will officially open in the spring and it will contain several departments stocking toys, gifts, food gifts, stationery, housewares, electrical, bed linens, towels and hopefully a new café.

Camp Hopson is part of the Morleys Stores Group alongside seven other department stores, all located in London.

Morleys Stores Group chief executive Nigel Blow said: “This will be quite a significant expansion of our presence in Newbury.

“We are proud of our presence here. We don’t want to see a big gaping hole on the high street.”

Morleys owns the unit at 13-15 Northbrook Street that it will be moving into.
