Honesty at Parkway Coffee Shop officially opens in Newbury town centre

A new café dedicated to providing local and ethically-sourced food and drink to their customers has opened in Newbury town centre.

The Honesty at Parkway Coffee Shop officially opened on the morning of Wednesday, March 16 with the first hundred people to enter receiving a free brownie along with any hot drink purchased.

The coffee shop, which filled the vacant unit left by Costa within the Parkway shopping centre, is the Honesty Group’s first venture into a town centre.

Honesty founder Romilla Arber said: “It is definitely the right step as we are confident that our strong values and the quality of our food will appeal to the wider population.

“We are also a local and independent business and are very pleased that our new landlords are so keen for us to be part of the Parkway offering.”

All of the food that Honesty at Parkway stocks is freshly made and delivered daily from their bakery in Turnpike, where they pride themselves on using organic ingredients with no artificial additives, flavourings or preservatives.

The coffee shop will also feature a weekly soup and weekly salad offering, along with its varied cake, pastry, sandwich and breakfast options.

Lots of food options will also be featured in Honesty’s ‘grab and go’ section, with all the products being packed in fully recyclable packaging.

Honesty’s house blend used in all their coffee - which can also be purchased in store to use at home - uses 100 per cent ethically-sourced Rainforest Alliance beans from Central and South America.

The café is spread over two floors and features original artwork created by Priyani Webster, an Honesty employee, which is all individually unique to the Newbury location.

The interior décor was designed by Pangbourne-based 03 Interiors, who have installed a turntable upstairs so customers can play their own records or pick from the resident collection.

Mrs Arber also said: “Creating distinct high streets and town centres that encourage small, independent involvement is definitely the way forward as far as we are concerned.”

Honesty at Parkway Coffee Shop’s opening hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
