Newbury MP Lee Dillon says: ‘Buy Newbury, Back Britain’

Amid global concerns over Donald Trump’s tariffs, Newbury MP Lee Dillon has announced a new campaign to focus on local businesses and farmers, writes Ace Beattie.

Mr Dillon has launched ‘Buy Newbury, Back Britain’, a local plan to support independent shops and community action.

“This is not just about catchy slogans,” he said, “it’s about real action that we can take as a community.”

Mr Dillon is encouraging everyone to support services local, saying our “constituency is packed with brilliant businesses”.

He recognises not only the duty of the community, but also urges the Government to step up.

President Trump’s tariffs – 10 per cent on most goods and 25 per cent on automotive exports – create another blow against struggling local businesses.

“We need action to protect not just out shops and producers, but our farmers too,” said Mr Dillon.

“We can’t afford another trade deal that leaves British agriculture exposed.

“We deserve a local economy that works for us.”
