The 35-year-old, of Newtown Road, Newbury, initially pleaded not guilty to driving a Mercedes Vito on the M4 at Reading when the amount of cannabis, a Class B-controlled drug, in his system exceeded the specified limit.

However he subsequently admitted the offence.

Ferris was made subject to a 12-month community order and required to complete 40 hours of unpaid community work.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £200 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.

Finally, Ferris was banned from driving for 17 months.
