Morrisons reveals reason for closing Newbury store

M Convenience store in Northbrook Street closed less than two years after opening

SUPERMARKET chain Morrisons has revealed the reason behind the decision to close down its Newbury store just 21 months after opening its doors.

Morrisons says the M convenience store in Northbrook Street, which shut on Sunday April 12, is no longer viable.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: “We have worked closely with colleagues at the store and carefully considered whether it could be turned around. Unfortunately, we found no way of making the store viable and regret that it has now closed.”

The store replaced the former HMV shop.
