Medical offers made to Newbury St Bartholomew’s School students




St Bartholomew’s School has announced that a “fantastic” nine offers have been made to students looking to take up medicine-related courses at university.

The school said the offers follow “months of hard work and study to complete extremely competitive entry tests and interviews” for their chosen universities.

In addition to Georgia Humphreys has secured a place to study Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge University and Adam Turner is set to take up a Veterinary Medicine placement at Nottingham University.

Baijal and Maisie Clark have both been offered places to study Medicine at Birmingham University, while Haaris Begg and Elliot Crouch were also successful with applications in Medicine to Imperial College London.

Annabel Grant received Medicine offers from Birmingham, Exeter and Nottingham, while both Oliver Davey and Thanvi Sasikumar secured a remarkable total of four places each. Oliver has been made offers by Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter and Thanvi is looking to study at either Birmingham, Queen Mary London, Liverpool or Plymouth.

Alison Lane, head of sixth form at St Bart’s, said: “This has been an extremely successful year for applications – one of the best on record.

“At a time when there is so much focus on the future of the NHS, it is truly heartening to know that such talented students are choosing to enter these challenging but rewarding professions.

“St Bart’s offer a full programme of support but at the end of the day it is down to the attitude, hard work and passion of the students themselves. We are incredibly proud of all of them.”

St Bart’s also said that the majority of Year 13 students have been applying to universities and higher education courses through the UCAS system.

The Sixth Form also recently launched two new programmes to offer tailored support to students in Years 12 and Year 13 applying for apprenticeships and for those looking to pursue careers in the creative arts.
