Man racially abused and assaulted in attack in Newbury Sainsbury's car park
A man was racially abused and assaulted in an attack in Newbury on Saturday.
At around 8.35pm, the victim, a man in his 20s, walked into the Sainsbury’s car park on Hectors Way via a pathway from the A339.
The offender approached the victim and shouted racial abuse at him and called him derogatory names.
The offender then threw punches at the victim, making contact with his head, as well as ripping his T-shirt and breaking his headphones.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses.
The offender is described as a man in his 30s with facial hair and tattoos.
He is believed to have been wearing a tan bucket hat, a black T-shirt with ‘Nirvana’ and a smiley face in yellow, jeans and trainers.
PC Elena Argyrou, based at Newbury police station, said: “We are asking for anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone who is able to identify the suspect in this incident to please come forward.
“Also, if you have any CCTV footage or any dash-cam footage if you were in the area around the time, I’d also ask that you check any recordings in case it has captured something that could assist our investigation.
