Thatcham man jailed for supplying cocaine
A Thatcham man has been jailed for supplying cocaine.
Elliott Bedward, 25, of Boscawen Way, Thatcham, pleaded guilty to a count of being concerned in the supply of controlled class A drug cocaine, in a hearing at Reading Crown Court yesterday (Thursday).
He was subsequently sentenced to two years and seven months in prison.
On January 27, 2020, Bedward was stopped and searched in Station Road, Thatcham, and was found to be in possession of suspected class A drugs, cash and two mobile phones.
In a subsequent investigation, it was found that Bedward was selling cocaine to a number of people in the area.
Bedward was charged with the offence on October 13, 2021.
Investigating officer PC Joe Gawronski, based at Newbury police station, said: “Many people who use and supply cocaine do not realise the level of exploitation and criminality behind it.
“Some may consider supply to be a quick and easy way to make money.
“However, the supply of drugs causes untold harm in our communities and Thames Valley Police will robustly seek out those supplying cocaine in West Berkshire and bring them to justice.
“Through our Stronghold team, we will relentlessly pursue those who seek to profit from drug dealing and exploit the most vulnerable people in our communities.
“I am pleased that Bedward has been given a prison sentence where he can now reflect on his actions.
“If you have any information relating to drug supply in West Berkshire, please report this to Thames Valley Police.
