Reading Magistrates' Court: Aldermaston man jailed for beating woman

A MAN has been sent to prison for attacking a woman.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, April 27, was Dimitrijs Romanuks.

The 36-year-old, of Old Stocks Farm, Paices Hill, Aldermaston, admitted assaulting Tracey Donnelly by beating her in Aldermaston on Thursday, April 1.

Mr Romanuks was jailed for 16 weeks.

The court ruled a custodial sentence was necessary because "the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders" and because the offence was aggravated by the defendant's record.

No order for costs was made but Mr Romanuks was ordered to pay a statutory victim services surcharge of £128 on his release from prison.

A bail offence was deemed to have been punished by time served in custody following Mr Romanuks' arrest.
