Thatcham man brian McGowan in custody on public order charge
A MAN charged with a public order offence has been locked up.
Brian McGowan appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 17.
The 39-year-old Thatcham man, currently said to be of no fixed address, is charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause Shadrack Abuakwa harassment, alarm or distress in Reading on May 6 last year.
Mr McGowan, who was legally represented by Gianpaolo Damiani, spoke only to confirm his details and to plead not guilty to the single charge.
He was told the case could proceed no further that day and would be adjourned for a trial to be arranged.
District judge Samuel Goozee meanwhile denied him bail and remanded him in custody.
