Man dies after tree falls on car on A34, as Storm Bert batters district




A man has died after a tree fell on his car on the A34 this morning.

Police are now appealing for witnesses, as Storm Bert continues to batter the district.

Officers were called at 7.47am to a report that a tree had fallen on a car on the southbound carriageway, between Kings Worthy and the M3 at Winnall.

A man in his 60s, who was driving a black Mercedes E350, died at the scene. His family have been informed.

A silver Skoda Kodiaq was also damaged in the incident, but there were no other injuries reported.

Hampshire Constabularly said: “Lengthy lane closures have been in place while emergency services work at the scene and we want to thank motorists for their patience.

“We would now like to speak to anyone with information about this incident and particularly anyone with relevant dash cam footage.”
