The 46-year-old, of Abbey Gardens, Upper Woolhampton, is accused of stealing the Achilles Heel running shoes, worth £119, belonging to Juanita Hunt in Thatcham on August 10 last year.

Mr Prosper, who was legally represented by Adonis Daniel, spoke only tom confirm his details and to plead not guilty to the single charge.

He was told the case could proceed no further that day and that it would be adjourned for a trial to be prepared.

Mr Prosper was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
