Reading Magistrates’ Court: Lambourn man barred for Hungerford leisure centre attack




A MAN has been banned from a leisure centre for attacking a man there.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 15, was Jason Roberts.

The 51-year-old, of Lyedowns, off Ermin Street, Lambourn, admitted assaulting Colin Hewer-Matthews by beating him at 8.03pm at Herongate Leisure Centre – now known as The Herongate Club – in Charnham Park, Hungerford, on Thursday, April 20.

He further admitted assaulting the same man just minutes later.

Mr Roberts, who was legally represented by Jeremy Yuille, was made subject to a 12-month community order with a mental health treatment requirement.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus compensation in lieu of an otherwise statutory victim services surcharge.

Finally, Mr Roberts was barred from entering the centre premises for six months.
