Man airlifted to hospital after A34 crash near Newbury




Car collided with broken down vehicle near A4 junction

A man was airlifted to hospital last night (Saturday) after a collision on the A34 near Newbury.

Delta Team Manager Stephenson said that two appliances were called to the scene at the southbound carriageway near to the A4 junction at around 6.30pm.

A Red Mitsubishi Evo had broken down and the two male passengers had left the vehicle to check what was wrong.

A Silver Range Rover then collided into the back of the Mitsubishi and sent one of the men hard into the barrier fence.

The man, who is aged 26 and from Havant, was airlifted to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be serious.

Several ambulances and police also attended and one lane was closed for around an hour before police re-opened it by around 8pm.

There were no other reported injuries.
