M4 closures between junction 11 at Reading and junction 12 at Theale continue for Burghfield Road bridge maintenance
Closures remain in place on the M4 this week as maintenance work on Burghfield Road bridge continues.
The closures are between junction 11 at Reading and junction 12 at Theale and are taking place on both the east and westbound carriageways.
There are currently eastbound overnight full closures in place until June 27.
Then from June 28 until July 1, there will be a full weekend closure, westbound.
The motorway will be shut from 9pm on Friday, June 28 until 6am on Monday, July 1.
There will then be westbound overnight full closures from July 1 until July 4, followed by seven nights of full overnight closures of the eastbound carriageway, running from July 5 until July 11.
A further westbound full weekend closure will then be in place from 9pm on Friday, July 12 until 6am on Monday, July 15.
There are further contingency closures planned for the end of July, should they be needed.
National Highways added: “Maintenance, including work on bridge bearings and fresh paintwork, is vital to ensure the long-term safety and integrity of the M4.
“Drivers are advised to follow diversions and allow extra time for their journeys and can stay updated by checking the National Highways webpage and Twitter/X.
“We thank everyone for their patience while we carry out this work.”
The westbound signed diversions will be in place via the M4 junction 11, onto the A33, the A4 and back on the M4 via junction 12.
And eastbound signed diversions will be in place via the M4 junction 12, onto the A4, the A33 and then back on the M4 via junction 11.
