West Berkshire Muslim Centre opens its doors for national Visit My Mosque day

Mosques and Islamic centres across the country will be opening their doors to the community this weekend.

While anyone can walk into these places of worship, at any time, this annual open day is an opportunity for learning and coming together.

This is what West Berkshire Muslim Centre says as its plans to join the national event on Saturday (September 23).

It is hoping that it will be an education experience, as well as an opportunity to meet people from different faiths and backgrounds.

WBMC executive member Ahmed AbdelWahed said: “It is an excellent opportunity for people of different faiths and backgrounds to come together and learn about each other, which will help promote awareness and tolerance and reduce prejudice and discrimination.

“It is also a rewarding and educational experience.

“Open days can also be a platform for interfaith dialogue and cooperation, which will help build bridges between different faiths and promote peace and understanding.”

He added: “In the current climate, where there is a lot of division and polarisation, mosque open days are more important than ever.

“They provide an opportunity for people to come together, learn about each other, and build relationships that can bridge the divides in our society and challenge stereotypes and misconceptions.

“Especially since the UK society is so diverse.”

Tickets are free and can be purchased at https://shorturl.at/nty79

The event at The Riverside Community Centre will fall on September 23 at 12.30pm – 2.30pm.
