Kingsclere Claws and Paws closes

The Kingsclere branch of pet supply shop Claws and Paws has shut its doors for the final time after just 16 months in the village.

The branch, in George Street, closed at 4pm last Saturday after opening in November 2020.

Owner Amanda Peel said she was “very disappointed” about the decision but that the branch didn’t have enough regulars to keep the business going.

She said: “It’s a nice village, but the pet shop is obviously not what they wanted or needed.

“We did do our research, and we did try different avenues to try and get more custom – advertised in the Tower, took part in the St Mary’s Church fete, but it’s just not meant to be.”

The Tadley and Overton Claws and Paws branches will remain open, and Mrs Peel said they were doing “really well”.

She added that the business would continue to offer free delivery to the Kingsclere area.
