Kennet School pupils learn how to use online technology wisely

Pupils help others to 'digitally detox' with Vodafone support

KENNET School pupils joined forces with Vodafone for a digital detox last week.

Year 9 pupils at Kennet worked with 14 Vodafone mentors to help teach Year 7 pupils to be strong online.

Vodafone staff helped the Year 9 pupils with issues of achieving a healthy balance in their use of technology, as well as planning the sessions which were delivered to the Year 7 pupils.

Kennet said that pupils learned about their own attitudes to technology and strategies to use to allow them to be in control of this area of their lives.

Year 7 Tutor, Kate Atkins said: “Overall the pupils really enjoyed this, one pupil said, ‘I loved all of it!’. I also thought the materials were good and that our Year 9s were excellent.”

The Year 9 pupils were said to be enthusiastic, while the Year 7s were active participants.

The school thanked Vodafone, and particularly Natalie Tucker from Three Hands, for the organisation and for devoting experienced senior staff to working at Kennet for the day.
