While the exact times that the lights failed cannot be confirmed, reports to the NewburyToday by motorists suggest issues were experienced between 7.15am and 10.45am on Friday, 10am and 1.40pm on Sunday and 5am and 10am on Tuesday, equating to more than 12-hours of disruption, yet police said drivers could still be prosecuted for travelling through a red light.

Rajbinder Bahra, 29, who was selected for ‘The Taste’ after impressing judges with his Tandoori Chicken dish, spoke to the Newbury Weekly News about life on the show and working under his mentor, Nigella Lawson.

Julia Mortimore took the helm of the Newbury school last week following the retirement of Christina Haddrell after 15-years, and said she wanted to make the curriculum “more personalised” and give students more say.
Meanwhile, police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with petrol station arson in Newbury.
At around 3am on January 5, a man attempted to light newspapers outside the petrol station in Pinchington Lane, before setting fire to stock outside the nearby Tesco store.
