In this week's Newbury Weekly News

Simon Velvick, aged 41, of Newtown Road, Newbury, is accused of murdering 42-year-old father-of five Mark Campbell, also from Newbury.
Floral tributes to Mr Campbell’s memory have been left at the scene with one card from “your extended family” saying: “You will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.”
Also this week, new key aims for Newbury for the next 13 years have been announced by West Berkshire Council following the refresh of the Newbury Vision.
Among them is promoting the town as a sporting venue, keeping young adults in the district and improving travel facilities.
In other news, the district’s roads and schools are to benefit from £250k in funding after West Berkshire Council revealed it underspent by £638k in its budget last year.
As a result, £50k will be put towards emergency pothole repairs, while £200k will be used to improve education and schools and the remaining funds but back into council savings.
Meanwhile, a Newbury man was knocked off his feet last week as his girlfriend proposed to him in the presence of boxing legend Frank Bruno.
Sarah Smith surprised her boxing mad boyfriend, Dave Pickering, by asking him to marry her during the ‘Evening with Frank Bruno’ held at The Newbury Pub.
As always, there’s also a roundup of the week’s entertainment and sport, and of course this week’s £25 free fuel giveaway.
All this plus more in the Newbury Weekly News, on sale every Thursday.
