Horse box and stables blaze in Newtown Common
Property well alight and destroyed in fire
A HORSE box and stables fire at Newtown Common during the early hours of this morning (Wed) is under investigation by police.
Two pumps were called from Newbury Fire Station at 4.30am, to Cherry Tree Farm, situated up a track off Horris Hill, just over the Berkshire/Hampshire border.
The horse box and stables were well alight, with leaping flames, and extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, using hosereels.
The horsebox and stables were destroyed.
A horse is understood to have been burned in the incident.
The cause has not been established, with police due to investigate the scene further today, according to firefighters.
Firefighters left the scene at 6.30am.
