Neverland is coming to North Hants this Christmas – OH YES IT IS!
“Neverland is coming to Kingsclere this Christmas – OH YES IT IS!”
Panto season may still be a few months away, but one amateur dramatic group in Hampshire is already on the search for people of all ages who want to be involved.
Kingsclere Players is putting on Peter Pan this November and is holding several panto promo days in June and July so anyone interested can find out more.
“It’s a chance for people to be curious and learn more about what’s involved,” said Kingsclere Players chairwoman Jessica Craker. “Whether it’s onstage or behind the scenes these promo days give people a taster with no pressure.
It’s also good for people who may be nervous about coming to auditions to explore what roles are on offer.”
The Kingsclere Players have an illustrious history in the North Hampshire village. It’s believed the group originally formed after the Second World War before stopping and starting over the next 20 years.
Historical records show it came back to life in 1964 with a production of Doctor in the House a year later. Meetings and rehearsals were held at The Crown with the productions taking place in the old village school, now the site of the doctor’s surgery.
“It’s exciting that a new generation of local people can tread in the footsteps of those early pioneers of amateur dramatics in Kingsclere,” said Jessica. “There’s a strong sense of community in the village. We are working closely with the KIngsclere Community Association and The Crown.
“It’s a great opportunity for people of all ages to get involved, have fun and make new friends. It takes more than just acting to put on this community production. We need all hands on deck of the Jolly Roger because rehearsals start in September.”
To find out more come along to The Crown in Kingsclere on the following days.
