Greenham Trust announces biggest match funding challenge to date

Greenham Trust has supercharged its annual fundraising initiative, creating its biggest challenge to date.

‘The Escalator’ is a week-long initiative where a project’s fundraising target total will increase every day – along with the matching ratio.

On the first day a charity would have to raise £500, which will be matched £1 for every pound raised.

This will increase daily so by the last day of the challenge the organisation would have to raise £4,800, which would be matched five times.

This means charities can raise up to £50,000 for their project in the space of a week.

Charitable organisations in West Berkshire and North Hampshire will be able to apply if they have a capital or revenue project over £75k.

Greenham Trust head of grants Rob Daniels said: “This challenge is not just about raising funds, though that is one part of it.

“It’s about adding momentum to projects, engaging people, raising awareness and bringing local communities together for a great cause.

“As I know from personal experience, the challenge can also be a lot of fun.”

The initiative follows Greenham Trust’s ‘£25k in a Day’ and ‘Double Match Days’.

There will be two opportunities to take part in The Escalator – one in June and one in September.

Greenham Trust CEO Chris Boulton added: “Along with our regular Trust Top Up matched funding initiative, general grants and appeals like the cost of living funds, these challenges have become a well-loved part of Greenham Trust’s giving portfolio.

“It can give opportunities to projects which they wouldn’t ordinarily get. I wish the best of luck to everyone who enters.”

Charitable organisations can apply through the Trust’s online platform www.thegoodexchange.com

The closing date for applications for June is Friday, March 31.
