Future star of ballet mentored by Oti Mobuse heads to Newbury festival
The future stars of dance are headed to Newbury – and here’s a unique chance to catch them right on your doorstep!
Inspiring new audiences, the Ballet Central Tour is a great introduction to ballet for audiences of all ages and it’s playing at the Newbury Spring Festival on Tuesday, May 16. https://www.newburyspringfestival.org.uk/
The Ballet Central company is made up of 32 young dancers; the 2023 graduating class of the world-renowned Central School of Ballet.
This year’s company includes Ellie Fergusson, who won BBC’s The Greatest Dancer in 2019, mentored by Oti Mobuse, and who went on to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.
This year’s dazzling programme, created by artistic director Kate Coyne, features some familiar stories alongside exciting contemporary pieces and brand-new work, created especially for the tour.
Fall in love with classical Pas de Deux, The Two Pigeons, and be inspired by Pas de Trois, Monotones I, both from one of the 20th century’s most distinctive choreographic voices, Sir Frederick Ashton.

See Snow White given new life in Michael Pink’s shadowy retelling, Mirror, Mirror and be captivated by Dextera’s exploration of the Pygmalion myth created by Sophie Laplane.
Plus, be the first to see new choreography from rising star Morgann Runacre-Temple and all-new work from distinguished contemporary choreographer Darshan Singh Bhuller, all in Ballet Central on tour.
Each piece has been specially chosen to celebrate the 40th birthday of the renowned Central School of Ballet.
