Freemasons cheque for Thatcham charity

A CHARITY that provides accommodation for young people at a home in Thatcham received a cheque for £1,000 from the Berkshire Freemasons.

A CHARITY that provides accommodation for young people at a home in Thatcham received a cheque for £1,000 from the Berkshire Freemasons.

Young People and Children First, formerly known as Children 1st West Berkshire, supports children and young people aged 16 -25 who have been in care, or are homeless, and the money will go towards renovating the bathroom of Cornerstone, a five-bedroom house in which the young people are accommodated.

Charity project manager Margaret Gould said: “The Berkshire Freemasons have been generous in their support of Children 1st West Berkshire previously and this latest cheque for £1,000 will part-fund the renovation of our very old and dated bathroom, currently out of use owing to leaks. We are proud to have five working adults living in the house, so not having a functioning bath can be tricky at times. The grant is a welcome addition to our fundraising for the renovations.”

The charity says that it now needs to raise £5,000 more to complete the bathroom work.
