Newbury’s Flowerpot Café to close in March after 10 years in town
A family-run café in Newbury will close in the spring, after ten years in the town, writes Grace Clift.
Juliette Davenport, owner of the Flowerpot Café in Inch’s Yard, will be shutting the door for the last time on March 8.
Mrs Davenport said she now hopes to spend more time with her family, visiting her daughters in Abu Dhabi and Cardiff, and move on to new projects.
Mrs Davenport told Newburytoday: “I always intended to do only 10 years.
“I’ve met such funny, lovely, interesting people.”
She made the announcement on Facebook, where she added: “It’s time for me to move on to pastures new.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the years – I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without you.”
The café sells entirely homemade goods, including a wide selection of breakfasts, salads, baked goods and sandwiches.
It also ran a two-cup special during the winter, which included a cup of soup and a cup of wedges for only £5.50.
The Flowerpot Café will be operating as usual until its closure on March 8.
And sadly it is not the only business closing in Inch’s Yard.
Brown Paper Loves, an independent craft shop, will also shut in March, leaving two empty units.
