32 flats proposed for disused Padworth hotel

Plans have been submitted for 32 flats to be created at a disused hotel in Padworth.

Developers want to turn the former Comfort Inn on Bath Road into apartments.

But the planning documents state that the viability assesment concludes that the development costs mean it should not have to contribute to affordable housing.

That assessment reviews how much the values and costs of the development will add up to.

It goes on to say that the propsed three-storey development will contribute towards the council’s housing supply by providing appropriate housing in a sustainable location.

Vehicular access to the site will remain unchanged, but there will be increased parking.

The proposal means the existing hotel building will be demolished and replaced with two blocks of flats and landscaping.
