Two pumps from Newbury were called to the store in Pinchington Lane at 3.58am.
The fire, believed to be electrical, started in the foyer.
Red watch manager, Bob Mitchell, said that the fire was "well alight" when the crews arrived.
He added that the foyer had been "quite badly damaged" by the blaze.
All staff were evacuated as a result.
