Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram down in UK outage

Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram have become unresponsive in the UK, US and other countries according to its service users.

The social media outage hit users in the UK at around 5pm today.

People have reported the inability to access Facebook's network of services in what seems like a global outage.

The company has reportedly apologised for the outage and Facebook spokesman Andy Stone said: "We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Apps Instagram and Whatsapp, aren't currently allowing users to refresh their pages or send messages.

Facebook is showing an out of service message reading: 'Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can.'
