East Ilsley hails successful Sheep Fair
During the day there were activities such as adult and children's races, produce competitions, a craft tent and a climbing wall.
One of the new attractions this year was a wife carrying race - some competitors carried their own wives, some carried their adult daughters and some even carried other people's wives.
Also on the day there were animal attractions such as sheep shearing, a novelty dog show, space hopper racing and a beer tent.
There was also entertainment from Blewbury Brass Band and performances from the choir at The Ilsleys Primary School.
Villager, Phil Blowfield who ran the bar at this year's fair, said that it was one of the most successful fairs he had seen in his seven or eight years of being involved with it.
Mr Blowfield said that although it was an event for people to enjoy, there was a more serious side to it - that they were raising money for village events and to help community groups.
He said: "It was a packed and full field this year.
"All the money we raised will go back into village funds
"It's a fun event in itself and everybody enjoyed it but there is a serious element where local projects do benefit.
"All the feedback we have received this year has been favourable."
He added: "It was packed right from the start; this was one of the busiest we have seen.
"The weather was good, I think it is one of the best fairs I have been involved with."
