Reading Magistrates’ Court: Baughurst drug-driver caught in Newbury was already banned
A MOTORIST was caught behind the wheel after taking cocaine... while already banned from the roads.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 27, was Nathan Tong.
The 33-year-old, of Woodlands Road, Baughurst, admitted driving a Volkswagen Passat on Hawthorne Road, Newbury, on November 11 last year when the amount of the Class A-controlled drug in his system exceeded the specified limit.
Mr Tong further admitted driving while disqualified and driving without insurance on the same occasion.
He was made subject to an 18-month community order.
Magistrates did not order him to complete unpaid community work after hearing Mr Tong was responsible for caring for his mother.
He was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.
Finally, Mr Tong was banned from driving for 18 months.
