Double blow for Newbury drink-driver Adrian McGivern
POLICE who busted a drink-driver found cannabis on him.
Adrian McGivern appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 16.
The 22-year-old, of The Firs in Newbury, admitted driving a Volkswagen Golf on Regnum Drive, Shaw, on Tuesday, April 2, after drinking more than the legal limit.
Tests showed 54mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
The legal limit is 35mcg.
Mr McGivern also admitted possessing a quantity of the Class B-controlled drug cannabis on the same occasion.
District judge Samuel Goozee fined him a total of £300.
In addition, Mr McGivern was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £120.
Finally, he was banned from driving for 14 months.
