Dancing sheep wow crowd at county show day two

Richard Savory brought his sheep show along to educate as well as enterain people.
Visitors to the show were treated to performances by Harry the Herdwick sheep, Lenny the Lincoln Longwool, Dougal the Scottish Blackface, Sam the Suffolk, Nobby the Norfolk Horn, Susie the Southdown sheep, Belinda the Blueface Leicester, Martha the Mule sheep and Terry the Texel.
While on stage, Mr Savory told the audience about each of the sheep – who all came on to their own theme tune – and what made them quality sheep.
There was then a sheep sheering demonstrating and finally, the bit people had all been waiting for – the sheep dancing.
And this time around, it was The Hussle.
Mr Savory, who has been doing dancing sheep shows for about 21-years, said: "It's a mixture of education and entertainment.
"We explain about different breeds – when you put them on stage people really see a difference.
"These sheep have done about 45 shows so far; we don't really have to train them hard for the show – it's not like circus training.
"Sheep have really good memories and these are well behaved."
This is the second year that the dancing sheep have performed at the show and Mr Savory added: "I love it here.
"I do a lot of shows but this one has a really nice feel to it.
"We have had a fantastic turnout – I love seeing people walk away with a bit of knowledge and a smile on their faces."
See next week's Newbury Weekly News for full reports of the show.
