Crews from Tadley, Basingstoke and Fleet called to tackle combine harvester fire

FIRE crews from across Hampshire were called as a combine harvester went up in flames in Tadley on Saturday evening.

They managed to quickly put out the blaze and prevent it spreading to the standing crop.

However, a large part of the vehicle itself, as this picture from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire Control shows, was destroyed by fire.

Crews from Tadley, Basingstoke and Fleet fire stations all attended.

Elsewhere on Saturday, crews from Newbury were called to a “fire in the open” in Long Lane.

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted that there was a lot of smoke in the nearby area as a result.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze using three hose reels.
