Roadworks are currently taking place on a busy Newbury road.

The ‘safety critical works’ are taking place between the Robin Hood roundabout and the Vodafone roundabout from 9.30am until 3.30pm from today (Tuesday) until Thursday (April 3).

There will be further closures on the same road overnight next week.

The A339 will be closed, again in both directions, from 7pm until 5am, Monday (April 7) to Thursday (April 10).

This closure is to allow machine patching and lining works and will be taking place between the Robin Hood roundabout and the junction of Curridge Road.

On Thursday (April 10) and Friday (April 11) next week the Chieveley Services roundabout link road will be closed for resurfacing.

It will be shut from 7pm until 5am.

Streatley Hill will also be shut this weekend.

The road will be closed between its junction with Reading Road and its junction with The Coombe from 7pm on Friday (April 4) until 5pm on Sunday (April 6).

The closure is in place to allow permanent carriageway repairs following the recent emergency gas works carried out by SGN.

A signed diversion route of around 14km, or 8.5 miles, will be in place over the weekend.

Elsewhere footway improvements will be taking place on Old Bath Road next week.

The Newbury road will be shut from 7am on Thursday (April 10) until 5pm on Saturday (April 12).

The closure will be in place 24 hours a day between the junctions of Oxford Road and the A4.
