Court sends Newbury man Ryan Barton to crown court in custody for breaching non-molestation order…again
A MAN has been locked up after repeatedly breaching court orders.
Ryan Barton appeared in the dock on Tuesday, April 15.
The 40-year-old, of Queens Road, Newbury, had denied breaching a non-molestation order in Newbury on February 14 by creating a Facebook post about the woman it had been designed to protect.
But he was convicted following a trial.
Also, in February, Barton had been given a suspended sentence for a previous breach of a non-molestation order which had been imposed last March by Reading Family Court.
He further admitted breaching a restraining order imposed last March by Reading Crown Court by messaging and video messaging a woman on December 28 last year.
Barton was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
Magistrates said at the time that a custodial sentence, albeit suspended, was necessary “because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders, because of his previous record and character and the impact on the victim”.
At the latest hearing on Tuesday, magistrates sent the latest breach to be sentenced by a judge sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
They meanwhile denied Barton bail and remanded him in custody.
Bail was refused because of his previous record and character, his previous breach of a suspended sentence order and restraining order and the likelihood he would reoffend if he retained his liberty.
