Councillors have heads shaved at New Image Turkish Barbers in Tadley to raise money for St Michael's Hospice in Basingstoke
A Tadley barbershop played host to a special charity event which saw a group of councillors brave the chop to raise money for a Basingstoke hospice.
On leap day last week (February 29) New Image Turkish Barbers in Franklin Avenue was visited by three Basingstoke and Deane Conservative councillors who had their heads shaved as part of the fundraiser.
Those who braved the barber’s chair and had their long locks expertly sheared away were Jay Ganesh, David McIntyre and Simon Minas-Bound.
Mr Minas-Bound said: “We are truly grateful for everyone's generous donations.
“We are particularly grateful to New Image Turkish Barbers for offering to do the shaving with care and good humour.”
The event, which was named ‘Bald Ambition’, not only provided a fresh start for those who underwent the razor's touch but also served a greater purpose.
In addition to their grooming services, New Image Turkish Barbers generously donated towards the fundraising efforts for St Michael's Hospice in Basingstoke.
Their contribution brought the councillors one step closer to reaching their target goal of £500, which they have now smashed, having raised £725 for the hospice as of Monday, March 4.
Reflecting on the day's events, a spokesperson for New Image Turkish Barbers expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support such a worthy cause.
They emphasised the importance of giving back to the community and encouraged others to join in the effort by donating to the cause.
Mr Minas-Bound added: “As the clippings settled and the buzz of razors subsided, the event served as a reminder of the impact that small acts of kindness can have on a community, bringing people together in support of those in need.”
Those interested in donating to the fundraiser can find it on the JustGiving website at http://rb.gy/wae39d
Mr Minas-Bound added: “Bald heads may indeed turn heads, but it's the generosity and compassion behind them that truly capture the spotlight.”
