Hampshire County Council to use £7.1m to help residents with rising food and energy costs
Hampshire County Council has unveiled plans to allocate £7.1m in funding to help residents with rising food and energy costs.
This funding, which extends the Government’s household support fund until March 31, 2025, aims to provide relief to those facing financial hardship.
Nearly £2.5m of the funding will be used to develop sustainable food and fuel support and grants for the community pantry network across Hampshire, while £1,265,212 will be given to schools, colleges and early years settings to offer support at their own discretion to families most in need of help.
And £421,250 will go to organisations that support unpaid carers and young carers, £250,533 will be made available as community grants for locally-based organisations to support residents and £989,679 will be used to provide direct support to households in need, such as food vouchers for children in care, foster carers, asylum-seeking children and other vulnerable families.
