Thatcham Town Council appoints new leader
Thatcham Town Council has appointed its new leader and deputy for the civic year.
The previous leader was councillor David Lister (Lib Dem, Thatcham West) with councillor Owen Jeffery as deputy.
Replacing Mr Lister is councillor Lee Dillon (Lib Dem, Thatcham North East).
Former deputy Owen Jeffery proposed Mr Dillon in a full council meeting on May 9 (Monday).
This was the first full town council meeting of the year with new mayor Jeff Brooks chairing.
Independent councillor Paul Field said the proposed leader would be “higher than adequate”.

Mr Dillon highlighted current issues the town faces that require attention. He praised the work of planning and highways officer Simon Pike (Lib Dem, Thatcham West) on the work liaising with West Berkshire Council and its appointed planning consultant on the district's local plan.
He went on to propose the new deputy leader, councillor David Lister who he said would be able to work on this alongside them.
Both suggestions were supported unanimously.
