Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust
Welcome to Dog of the Week; our online feature highlighting some of the dogs waiting for their forever home.
Dogs Trust Newbury has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.
There are currently 788 dogs across the Dogs Trust network that need adopting.
You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.
And each Sunday we will feature one of the dogs looking for a new home in West Berkshire.
This week, we have River to introduce you to.
River is a six and a half year old female German Shepherd who loves playing fetch in the centre.
You can find out more about adopting her here.
The trust is looking to rehome her as an only dog as she would benefit from working on her dog to dog interactions; when out on walks as she can be a little unsure. River would love a garden to call her own where she can potter and play to her heart’s content.
The centre would prefer a home where River's leaving hours will be minimal, with any leaving time built up very slowly once she is settled as she does struggle without the company of her favourite people.
She could live with children aged 12+ who are confident around large breed dogs. She does get quite itchy skin in the summer months which is managed with medication and this can be discussed with the rehoming team.
She cannot live with cats or small furries however.
River loves lots of opportunities to stretch her legs and go on a sniffy walk and above all she loves affection from her favourite people.
