Community thanked for help following festive break-in

Sometime overnight on Sunday, November 17, the thieves broke into Gilbert Court sheltered housing accommodation, Bath Road.
The thieves stole about £80 worth of Christmas food as well as other items, which residents had been saving up for.
The heartless thieves stole all the food that had already been bought for the celebratory lunch including mince pies and Christmas puddings as well as raffle prizes.
However, after staff contacted the Newbury Weekly News both private and business donators came forward.
In a letter to the Newbury Weekly News this week, staff from the Gilbert Court committee thanked everyone who donated.
It said: “With your help and kindness were able to hold the lunch and everybody enjoyed themselves.”
